Cellarmaster and Viticulture Coordinator
Katie Rouse is from Raphine, Virginia where she grew up on a vineyard and winery, so naturally she was attracted to the California wine country. Katie graduated from Whitman College with a degree in Geology. She began her career in the geology field before delving back into the world of wine and food in 2011 as part of the harvest staff at Rockbridge Vineyard in her hometown of Raphine. Then, she managed Precita Park Café in San Francisco before working at various wineries around Northern California with a harvest in South Africa, before embarking on her Masters studies in Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis. After graduating, Katie spent a year in Burgundy, France where she worked at Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine. She applies her broad and deep understanding of winemaking to her position at Crocker & Starr every day. During her free time, you can find Katie cooking her way through Yotam Ottolenghi’s Jerusalem cookbook or camping in the redwoods.
