The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Stone Place’ blends power, balance and elegance… traits which are recognized as the legacy of the Crocker Estate. The aromas are complex with beautiful descriptors of black cherry, roasted vanilla bean, graphite and sweet licorice. Decadent layers of flavors starting with black plum, baking spices and cacao nib greet your palate and follow through into a long, multi-layered finish of ample yet elegant and silky tannins. Decant for now. Cellar-worthy 15-20 years.
2016 is the last year of a series of drought years and Napa Valley was blessed with just enough spring rains to start the growing season. July and August brought relatively steady and mild temperatures followed by a series of warm days encouraging the vines to complete ripening. Our estate vineyard was able to gradually progress to perfect ripeness. Thankfully, all estate grapes were in house before the valley's first significant rainstorm, on October 14. Our 2016 vintage wines have great structure coupled with amazing plushness that will make this vintage absolutely delicious upon release. Cheers!
