Introducing our Spring Release, featuring exceptional wines that showcase Crocker & Starr’s dedication to quality. Each wine reflects the essence of our sustainably farmed estate, crafted with passion and precision.
Crocker & Starr 2024 Estate Sauvignon Blanc was conceived and planted over 28 years ago with soils and climates specifically chosen to grow the attributes so beloved in this grape. The result is a savory, mineral-driven wine with juicy guava, and citrus tones that will satisfy both the sophisticate and the hedonist.
The 2024 vintage may very well be the vintage of the decade. Abundant winter rains replenished the soils, laying the foundation for healthy vine growth. Though the 2024 growing season was one of the warmest on record in over 40 years, a fully developed canopy provided ample protection for the grapes, preserving their freshness and acid balance. The result: grapes with exceptional color, texture, and concentrated flavors. Layer upon layer of complexity defines this vintage, promising wines of remarkable elegance and longevity.
An attractive and vibrant yellow hue draws you in, leading to forward aromas of guava, lime, and mango—hovering on the edge of tropical. Fresh and juicy flavors of guava, white nectarine, and limon unfold into a long, textured finish with a touch of seashell minerality. Incredibly savory! Crocker & Starr is known for bringing wine lovers back to the Sauvignon Blanc table with this signature style. Our team is pairing this wine with fresh oysters, ceviche, and, of course, French fries.
The 2022 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon ‘RLC’ Rock Loam Clay is a standout expression of our St. Helena vineyard, crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Sourced from blocks with unique soil variations of rock, loam, and clay, this wine offers a plush, balanced character. With meticulous winemaking and attention to detail, the 2022 RLC showcases the complexity and elegance that define Crocker & Starr’s estate wines.
The 2022 growing season started with a mild spring, followed by a warm trend during flowering. A heat wave in early September, with temperatures exceeding 110°F. To protect our prized Cabernet, misters in Block 1 helped mitigate the heat. Normally, we harvest black grapes over 4 to 6 weeks, but in 2022, we completed the harvest in just 5 days. Thanks to our dedicated night-picking crews and the support of friends and family, we preserved the quality of the grapes despite reduced yields, resulting in wines with exceptional balance and structure.
The 2022 RLC shows ruby red and black color of medium dark density. Aromas of fresh cherry, black currant, pomegranate, dried tarragon are lifted-up with toasted vanilla oak and nutmeg spice set expectations of deliciousness. Flavors which are true to the aromas enter with creamy currant and dark chocolate, vanilla oak and pie spices and are reminiscent of a red velvet cake experience. The fine grain tannins hold the wine through to the medium long finish. This 2022 RLC is incredibly approachable right now and is expected to age elegantly for 15+ years.
A.V.A. stands for American Viticulture Area and for us it represents the culmination of sustainable viticulture, resurrection of our 1870’s winery and classic winemaking. The bouquet on the front label ties into our rich history, as it and the 1870’s Victorian home originate from a Sears & Roebuck catalog. Inspired by Pam’s expertise with Cabernet Franc grape and classic blends of the old-world wines, our A.V.A. Napa Valley blend of Cabernet Franc serves as the perfect introduction to the Crocker & Starr portfolio.
The 2021 season was one of exceptional quality and will be remembered for low yields with intensely flavored, small berries and incredible color. Here in St. Helena, rain started in January and then almost no notable precipitation for the rest of the season. Budbreak was early April followed by flowering and bloom in May. The summer saw early and even ripening throughout. Harvest started on August 13th, picking Sauvignon Blanc and finished with the last red grapes coming in September 27th. Overall, the 2021 Crocker & Starr wines are showing brilliant concentration and intense color, which will lead to full-bodied, age-worthy wines.
Deep ruby and purple in color, drawing the wine taster to enticing aromas of black raspberry, cardamom spice, tobacco, and savory herbs. The flavors and texture follow true to the aromas, with firm but friendly tannins and medium body, layered with black fruits and brown spices, finishing long on the palate. The beauty of this Cabernet Franc blend is that it drinks exceptionally well now and will cellar well for many years.
