Vintage Notes

Bud break was slightly earlier than normal for the Crocker Estate Vineyard in 2016, kicking off the growing season at the beginning of April.  A warm and consistent temperature through May gave us great conditions for fruit set.  This continued through with steady temperatures in July & August, giving us a near perfect growing season. The consistency in temperatures allowed for longer hang time for the grapes and ideal conditions for even ripening.  We saw evidence of this as our grapes were ripening near the same time across the valley, from the cool region of Coombsville to the vineyards in St. Helena.  Although our harvest was smaller than normal, the sauvignon blanc was able to ripen perfectly while maintaing the wonderful crispness from a cooler ripening season.  The 2016 harvest season shows signs of contuining the trend of exceptional vintages for Napa Valley, leaving us with only one wish, that we had more fruit!

Tasting Notes

The 2016 vintage is another exceptional showcase of Pam Starr’s ‘Napa Style’ Sauvignon Blanc. The estate fruit brings warm tropical aromas of guava and mango with the slightest hint of orange blossom and lime.  Perfectly ripe mango and guava are evident on the palate as well, with an elegant touch of tangerine zest and the perfect twist of lemon and lime. The mouthfeel is soft and lush while maintaining a refreshing acidity.  The finish lingers with a smooth crushed stone minerality.
